MSC Consulting has undertaken the structural engineering design services for this multi-unit 2-3-storey development for Modus Group. Construction for this project will begin shortly.
MSC Consulting was engaged by Modus Group to undertake the structural design as well as construction observation for this large new social housing project. Located next to the Grange Golf Club in Manurewa, this development will offer 16 new one-bedroom units for social housing.
The development is comprised of two separate buildings of 2-storeys and 3-storeys. Both blocks are built using timber framed construction with timber truss roofs. The balconies and stairs providing access to the units comprise structural steel supporting flat slab concrete floors, which are standalone structures.
This provided a unique challenge as they could not be braced back to the house.
