MSC Consulting Group carried out all the structural and civil engineering design for the multiple stages of the Dannemora Gardens retirement complex in Te Irirangi Drive, Botany Downs.
Vision Senior Living's Dannemora Gardens has been constructed in 11 stages to date, with MSC completing all the structural and civil engineering from the start of the project.
Stage one started in 2002 and included the ground floor main entry, reception, administration and restaurant/bar communal facilities with two levels of apartments above. Stages two to eleven all involved further three-storey apartment blocks of various shapes and sizes, with between 12 and 16 units in each.
Between stages two and four, a high level atrium roof was constructed for an all-weather outdoor recreation area. Also as part of stage three, an indoor swimming pool and basement carpark were constructed to further enhance the communal facilities.
In 2016, MSC completed the design of the games pavilion adjacent to the bowling green and expects to complete stages 12 and 13 in the very near future.
Most of the three-storey apartment blocks are constructed with reinforced concrete Dimond Hi-Bond floors, composite steel beams and steel EBF frames and columns. The restaurant/bar area is reinforced concrete precast floors on reinforced concrete frames to give a larger open space within the two levels over steel EBF frames and floors.
