MSC Consulting provided structural engineering design, documentation and construction observation for these redeveloped Kāinga Ora units.
Originally built in the 1990’s, the site accommodated only 34 terraced homes, so Kāinga Ora completely redeveloped the site on Galway Street in Onehunga to meet the needs for better apartments that made the best use of the 4960m2 site.
MSC Consulting were the structural engineers for this a Design & Build contract with Bracewell Construction for Kāinga Ora.
The housing development included a total of 71 apartments in two four-level buildings, which enabled the site to be opened up with a greater section of open landscaped areas.
The buildings are constructed with precast concrete wall panels, precast flooring and a strucutural steel frame.
MSC also undertook construction observation working alongside contractor Bracewell. Construction was completed mid-2020 ahead of schedule.
