Warehouse | Industrial | Location: Otahuhu, Auckland | Client: Goodman NZ | Architects: Woodhams Meikle Zhan Architects
MSC was engaged to provide structural engineering design for NCI’s new manufacturing and distribution facility in Otahuhu.
MSC continued their longstanding relationship with Goodman NZ providing structural engineering services for this 14,000m2 warehouse located in the Savill Link industrial park.
The project was awarded “Excellence” at the RLB Property Council NZ Property Industry Awards for 2020.
Remediation of a contaminated industrial site made way for the modern manufacturing and distirbuting facility for one of New Zealand’s leading brands.
Collaboration between the project team was key to ensure the facility was fit for purpose for NCI while also future-proofing the structure for the owner and developer Goodman. The building has a regular grid with few columns and, if required, can be easily reconfigured for dual or multiple tenancies.
Innovation and automation factors also had to be taken into account for the design of the building. Robotic machinery, dedicated areas for dangerous goods and charging stations for electric forklifts are key features NCI required for their operations.
