Oceania Living engaged MSC’s civil team to develop a master plan for the redevelopment of its Bayview Care retirement village in Tauranga.
The Bayview Care (formerly Melrose) was the first retirement village built in Tauranga, in the suburb of Judea. It sits on an elevated 15-acre site and enjoys expansive views to the north and out to Mount Maunganui. With the current facility offering only single-level olderstyle care units and villas, Oceania wished to better meet the needs of Tauranga’s aging population with larger, modern independent living units.
The new master plan considered the impacts of future development on public infrastructure capacity and enabled Oceania to obtain resource consent for a development taking place over six stages. The first stage was a modern care facility; stage 2 is a central amenities facility plus additional independent living units.
