Yashili

The Yashili New Zealand Dairy Company’s new $220 million, 30,000m2 infant formula manufacturing plant was a merit winner in the industrial category of the 2016 Property Council Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards. MSC provided the civil engineering design, documentation and certification of civil works for this multi-disciplinary project.

Constructed on a six hectare site in the new Gateway Business Park, the 30,000m2 Yashili plant cost $220 million and took three years to build. The plant is expected to have annual production capacity of 52,000 tonnes of formula and is designed to operate under strict quality controls with food safety as a top priority.

In addition to the factory, the complex also incorporates inwards and outwards goods entry, a 41m tall dryer tower, a treatment plant, distribution warehouse and a two-level office building and carparking.

Project director Paul Culley says the project was a multi-disciplinary fast track development that required accurate coordination of the civil design with all other design aspects of the development.

“The MSC team produced quality civil engineering design and documentation that provided a seamless design, consenting and construction process, within budget and programme timeframes,” he says. “We are thrilled that the work of all involved was recognised in this year’s Property Council, Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards as a merit winner in the Industrial category.”
