MSC was heavily involved in civil and structural design and management of Ridgeview Estate, a greenfields residential project where the topography posed challenges for economical building development.
Ridgeview Estate is a $3.8 million greenfields development in Auckland's fast developing northern North Shore. It was constructed in two stages and included 60 new lots, two new public roads and five right-of-ways.
The development is made up of stand-alone and duplex timber framed two- and three-storey dwellings, using 10 typical unit designs.
Due to the topography of the land, holding ponds were required to handle rainwater runoff, and retaining walls were designed and constructed to provide level building platforms. This enabled all buildings to be constructed on rib-raft slabs, some with timber pile foundations. Some houses were split-level, straddling timber pole retaining walls.
